DEC 13, 2009 – “Snapshots” meeting with Prospect Theater Company

The first meeting of the writers of Prospect Theater’s experimental musical project: 8 different writing teams each contribute a single musical scene to a new show, all about different defining moments in the life of a single central character — who has yet to be named.  Each team contributed a fictional character idea, and each was assigned someone else’s character.  I drew the name of Max: a 14-year-old who doesn’t speak the same language as his family and feels left out.  Time to see what happens …

NOV 20, 2009 – WE THE PEOPLE workshop

We The People, a new revue about American government (including Adam’s song “The First Amendment”), produced by Theatreworks USA and directed by Jeremy Dobrish, has its first workshop performance at Chelsea Studios.  Other writers include Brad Alexander (Rodgers Award winner for See Rock City & Other Destinations) & Kevin Del Aguila (Altar Boyz), Sam Forman & Eli Bolin, Ryan Scott Oliver (Rodgers Award winner for Mrs. Sharp), and others.

OCT 30, 2009 – UP HERE reading at Roundabout

Adam plays the Dark Lord and a bunch of other characters in a reading of this new musical by Robert Lopez (Avenue Q, Finding Nemo music & lyrics) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Finding Nemo, In Transit, Storyville lyrics), directed by Alex Timbers (Gutenberg! The Musical, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant) at the Roundabout.  Cast includes Anika Larsen (Avenue Q), Christian Boyle (Legally Blonde), Eric Petersen (Shrek), Amy Justman (Company), and many others.  Musical direction by Aron Accurso (upcoming Calvin Berger)

AUG 8-10, 2008 – IN TRANSIT at the York Theatre

Adam plays the role of Trent, along with other characters, in this new a cappella ensemble musical about life in, on and around the subways in New York City.

IN TRANSIT will feature Ryan Thomas Dunn (Camelot with New York Philharmonic) as Chris, Hannah Laird (Disney’s Finding Nemo: The Musical) as Ali, beat-boxer Adam Matta (Bobby McFerrin at Carnegie Hall) as Boxman, Adam Overett (Light in the Piazza, B’way and Nat’l tour) as Trent, Ann Sanders (Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast) as Regina, Graham Stevens (Carmen with New York City Opera) as Nate and Denise Summerford (Taboo, The Rocky Horror Show) as Jane. W. Brent Sawyer (Naked Boys Singing) is the musical director and the director is Joe Calarco (Sarah Plain and Tall, Artistic Associate at Signature Theater in VA).
